Dobies

In 1894, Dobies started their business supplying flower and vegetable seeds in the Chester area. Now, they deliver to customers throughout the UK and also offer young annual plants, bulbs, fruit and garden equipment. Their products can only be bought online, as they aren’t sold in shops. The company is owned by the same group as Suttons. They largely offer the same products, although they do have some differences in their selection. Dobies aims to create a more socially responsible and sustainable business, for which they have taken several actions. They recycle at their nursery in Devon and in their warehouse and office space. In addition, they’ve invested in solar panels for their warehouse roof, converted to LED lighting, use FSC certified paper suppliers where possible and aim to introduce more FSC accredited sustainable products into their range. Moreover, they’ve stopped using neonicotinoid pesticides and use paper wraps for their catalogues. For their efforts, they received The Planet Mark sustainability certification in 2020.
