Are Black Friday deals real?
What is Black Friday?
These days it is an indispensable part of the online and offline shopping landscape: Black Friday. This phenomenon has blown over from the US and almost every store or webshop in the UK is also participating in it. It started when retailers in America put the leftovers of their stock on sale the day after Thanksgiving. The name Black Friday is a reference to the gigantic crowds that arose on the streets to hunt for bargains on this notorious Friday.
What about Cyber Monday and Singles Day?
In the UK we are of course not really that familiar with exchanging gifts on Thanksgiving. For us, Black Friday is mainly for buying Christmas presents. After this custom, a number of other customs have also blown over, such as the Chinese Singles Day, the day on which Singles in China buy gifts for themselves and on which year after year sales records are broken. Cyber Monday actions are also seen a lot, while this was actually the answer of American webshops to Black Friday, because that was mainly a day for the brick and mortar shops and the webshops were ignored on that day. Today, all these days are being tackled online in a big way.
Are the Black Friday deals real?
In the UK it is not allowed for webshops to pretend that they have a sale that is actually not a sale at all. Nevertheless, during Black Friday, an offer is often exposed that is not at all cheaper than usual. For example, if you’re putting off a big purchase until Black Friday or Cyber Monday, keep an eye out for the product’s prices in the days or weeks before that moment. This way you can see whether you have really struck a good offer. In order to prevent the huge peak, we are increasingly seeing webshops extend the Black Friday days, and have Sale for 1 or 2 whole weeks, for example.
Tips for Black Friday:
- If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Don’t be blind to good looking offers, but keep your wits about you! Do not order items that you are in a hurry for! Due to the low prices, delivery services have great difficulty every year to get all packages to you in a timely fashion. So if you want to make sure it arrives on time, don’t wait until the last minute.
- Stay friendly and don’t get annoyed. The customer services, packers and deliverers work hard to process the packages, give them a hand by ordering on time and don’t direct your frustration to people who are just doing their job.
- Use it to score big purchases cheaply that you would otherwise need around this time. Black Friday is an ideal time to buy a new smartphone, TV, laptop or vacuum cleaner if yours has just broken down.
Check the Reviews before you make a purchase! Many parties have great deals, so it can be tempting to order quickly. However, we recommend that you first take a look at the reviews of other customers so that you can be sure that your expectations can be met.
