CJ WirldBird Foods Ltd was established in 1987. It is located in England’s rural Shropshire. Chris Whittles, a lifelong ornithologist and wildlife enthusiast, founded the company. The company researched and sold a small range of food for wild birds during its conception, mostly seeds. However, as awareness grew of the benefits of feeding garden birds, so did the company’s interest in this area. Therefore, CJ WildBird Foods Ltd shifted interest to the overall bird food market over the years. The company has been incredibly instrumental in the growth of the bird food market through extensive research and food development programs.

The program is led by ornithologists who have promoted establishing a range of wild bird food. As a result, the program has grown from producing foods for only 18 species of wild birds in 1987 to more than 80 common species. CJ WirldBird Foods Ltd’s research has helped establish the importance of year-round garden birds’ feeding. This is the first company to introduce most of the wild bird seeds, like black sunflower seeds, kibbled sunflower hearts, and Nyjer seeds, to name a few.

The company supplies its products in the UK and 9 other European countries. The products are designed from observation, product design, development, product testing, partnerships, and manufacturing.
